Standby for Flood and EOC Deployment December 28th, 2010
On the afternoon of December 28th, a CAHAN Alter was sent out asking for members to volunteer to be placed on a standby list for 24hrs for Flood and EOC deployment. At the time, the National Weather Service was forecasting heavy rains for our region and thus there was a high threat for local flooding of creek and the Cosumnes River.
Although we did receive a fair amount of precipitation, there was only minor local flooding and thus no need for a CERT deployment.
Thank you to the 20+ CERT volunteers for being able to be called upon if needed.
Elk Grove - Missing 9y/o Boy May 9th, 2010
CERT was activated on May 8th at approximately midnight for a missing child in Elk Grove. In all, 14 Elk Grove - Galt CERT members quickly responded to assist in the search which took them down the Laguna Creek corridor, also searching parks along the way. Members were relieved of duty at 6am and the child was fortunately found safe at 9am.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to each CERT member that voluntarily deployed for the missing child early this morning. The Cosumnes Fire Department, as well as Elk Grove Police, are extremely grateful for your hard work and dedication to helping our community. Your support was much appreciated.
